Scion announces FR-S to start at $25,990

2013-Scion-FR-S-i002 Scion’s compact RWD sports car, the FR-S, will come with an MSRP starting at $25,990; $27,170 if you want the six-speed auto with paddle shifters.

The car gets a favourable front-to-rear weight ratio (53:47) and low centre of gravity from a mid-ship-mounted boxer engine development jointly by Toyota and Subaru. The 2.0L inline-4 develops 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque.

The FR-S’s exterior, inspired by the Toyota 2000GT, boasts an aerodynamic shape and low stange. Inside, seating for four includes a fold-flat rear seat for flexible cargo-carrying abilities. A centre-mounted tach is the focus of the three-gauge cluster and features programmable shift indicator.

Eight-speaker Pioneer audio and aux jack, as well as Bluetooth connectivity, comes standard; also standard are six airbags, traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, enhanced vehicle stability control, brake assist, ABS and Smart Stop technology.
